The Infinite String Quartet
The Infinite String Quartet is an interactive music composition written by composer Úlfur Eldjárn and coded by Halldór Eldjárn. The listener creates his own version of the music through an intuitive graphic interface, by looping and layering recordings of an actual string quartet. The possible versions of the piece are infinitely many.

The project is an attempt at creating a new kind of music experience, utilising the technology we have at our fingertips in everyday life. It’s a non-linear music composition: You don’t listen to it from beginning to end, but rather explore it and play with it on your own terms. Listening doesn’t require any knowledge of music or programming, and the only equipment you need is a computer and a browser (tablet version coming soon).
